A: Here are several things for you to check and try:

After lighting the pilot, did you turn the knob from the PILOT to the ON position? No gas will flow through the valve if you did not.
Are the batteries in the receiver (black box) and transmitter (remote) fresh? If the light on the hand-held transmitter is strong when you push the button, then you may only need to replace the batteries in the receiver (they use much more energy than the transmitter).
Have you synchronized the transmitter to the receiver? Depress the learn button on the receiver until you hear a beep and release, then depress the ON button on the remote and the unit should light.
