We do not support the removal of the ceramic tiles from the burner. If the burner ports are clogged, burner is cracked, burner insulation is missing, or the burner is popping, etc., you may need to replace the entire burner. (Grill Model Number can be found on the underside of the pull-out drip tray).
While replacing just the ceramic plate sounds like the best option, we learned early in the history of Solaire that it is rarely successful. Among the challenges of replacing the tiles in a used burner are the condition of the screws, ability to remove them, and then to reattach them once the tiles are placed. While all metal on the burner is made from type 304 Stainless Steel, the high heat still oxidizes the SS, making removal of the screws difficult. Then, once removed, the holes in the burner flange may be misshapen and not receive a new screw. Add to it the cost of shipping both ways and our labor, and the likelihood of not succeeding, and our experience led us decades ago to only support full burner replacement.
Accordingly, we only support burner-for-burner replacement as the best practice.
