Q: I have a full size Solaire Grill and it does not get hot, what should I do?
A:
- For Propane: The bottle regulator has a safety feature that shuts down the flow of gas in the event of an over-pressure situation. Sometimes this can be triggered by opening the bottle valve too quickly. The feature is like a BB (round ball) that closes off the flow of gas. This is a common, required feature in all gas grill regulators. The BB will remain in this position until it is broken free from its closed position. This is accomplished by removing the regulator from the bottle and hitting the regulator in the palm of your hand. Sounds crude, but this normally works.
- If you are using Natural Gas, has the grill been fully converted? Solaire 27G, 27GXL, 30" and 42" are all set up at the factory for propane gas and include a natural gas conversion kit. (The regulator cap needs to be flipped to read "NAT" and the orifices at each burner, including rear infrared rotisserie burner (if equipped) need to be changed).
(b) Check for kinks or obstructions in the gas supply line.
(c) Your gas supply hose may be too small. If you have a side burner on your 30" Solaire, a 42" or 56" Solaire, you need the gas flow capacity that our SOL-12HOSE12 hose delivers for proper operation on natural gas. It is a 1/2" i.d. x 12-foot long flexible hose with quick disconnect fittings with a maximum capacity of 160,000 BTU/hour gas flow capacity on Natural Gas. Why do you need this hose? 3/8" hoses found at home improvement stores and BBQ shops have a maximum capacity of 60,000 BTU/hour, which is right at the maximum flow of two 30" Solaire burners on HIGH (55,000 BTU/hour), but is inadequate for greater gas requirements. - Ensure that the main burner orifices are open and clear of any obstructions. Spiders can spin their webs inside the orifice, resulting in diminished gas flow to the burner.
