The Grilling Grids on all 21" and larger Solaire Grills are covered under a limited lifetime warranty.
Limitations to warranty:
- Warranty applies to the original purchaser.
- Does not apply if subjected to other than normal household use.
- Covers the structural integrity. Should structural deterioration occur to the degree of non-performance, a replacement will be furnished. The customer is responsible for shipping/handling charges.
- Does not apply if the grill or grids have been tampered with or altered in any way, or subjected to misuse, negligence, or accident.
Two examples of grids that have deteriorated, as evidenced by the splitting of the steel. The right photo shows splitting at the right and left of the photo.
Two examples of grids that do not exhibit warrantable conditions: This one is just dirty and greasy. A brass or SS bristle brush should be used during both the warm-up and after use burn-off, with the burner on HIGH. |
This one shows oxidation of the stainless steel from the high heat. Heat is very transformative, but appearance change does not constitute a warrantable condition. See more below. |
Unprotected carbon steel rusts when exposed to air and moisture. Stainless steel contains chromium, which aids in corrosion resistance. The chromium in SS forms a passive film of chromium oxide, which prevents surface corrosion and blocks corrosion from spreading into the metal's internal structure. The burner screens and grilling grids, however, are subjected to high temperatures that form chromium carbides (a compound formed with carbon) with any carbon present in the steel. This reduces the chromium available to provide the protective chromium oxide film, thus losing the corrosion resistance and resulting in the rust appearance.
